New York Red Bulls midfielder Mike Grella needed just seven seconds to find the back of the net against the Philadelphia Union.
Grella's strike is the fastest in Major League Soccer history, stunning the visitors.
The Union kicked off the game, but a miscommunication allowed Grella the chance to pounce.
Union midfielder Micheal Lahoud left the ball roll past, assuming a teammate was there to receive the pass from Cristian Maidana.
However, it was Grella who reacted fastest and with the Union backpedalling, fired away a shot that took a wicked deflection off a defender and beat goalkeeper Andre Blake at his near post.
