Former Wellington Phoenix striker Paul Ifill is "disappointed" with Football Federation Australia's (FFA) decision to reject his former clubs request for a 10-year A-League license.
The FFA have offered the Phoenix a four-year license which Ifill described as a "token gesture".
"My personal belief is that will give them the time to get the other franchise up and running," Ifill said.
"I think we all thought we were going to get 10 years and for them to say we can apply for four…it's a slap in the face…pretty gutted."
The Phoenix released a statement Tuesday morning saying they would seek clarity from the FFA before deciding whether to apply for the shorter-than-expected licence.
