Netball New Zealand have named 25 athletes who will be taking part in the Silver Ferns and National Development Squad trials in Auckland next month.

Silver Ferns captain Casey Kopua is the notable admission, after being granted extended leave until the end of January.

Netball New Zealand decided to rest Kopua following a busy six months since she returned from a serious knee injury in May to lead the Ferns to the Netball World Cup final.

Kopua's fellow defender Leana de Bruin has been included in the squad, squashing rumours she could be hanging up her bib.

Maria Tutaia returns to the squad, following extended leave that saw her miss the Constellation Cup.
