Social media pays tribute to Jonah Lomu

Social media has been awash in tributes to Jonah Lomu, after news of the rugby icon's unexpected passing.

Former All Blacks doctor, John Mayhew, confirmed this afternoon that Lomu had died in the early hours of this morning.

The CEO of New Zealand Rugby expressed his condolences via the All Blacks' official Twitter account saying the rugby world was lost for words.

Steve Tew went on to say that Lomu was a legend of rugby union who was loved by his fans.

One of those fans was Cory Jane.

And it wasn’t just New Zealand left reeling. Lomu's impact in world rugby was clear with international names and teams tweeting their condolences and messages of support.

The Wallabies tweeted their support.

French flanker, Thierry Dusautoir, also paid tribute.

And athletes from other sports have shared how Lomu had influenced their own successes.
