The All Blacks have been asked about the future of their two highest profile figures.

While the future of veterans Dan Carter, Keven Mealamu, Ma'a Nonu, Conrad Smith and Tony Woodcock have been well documented, the future of captain Richie McCaw and coach Steve Hansen have yet to be decided.

Hansen has a contract through to 2017 and in the wake of his side's 34-17 win to clinch the Webb Ellis Cup, he says it's now unlikely that he'll be involved in the next tournament in Japan in 2019.

McCaw has refused to confirm or deny his future, though it's widely expected he will not play again in a black jersey.

He wasn't talking about the subject today but Hansen has indicated he doesn't expect his inspirational captain to return.

The pair fronted a press conference and spoke of the victory celebrations.
