Who says the Black Caps are nice guys?
Despite often being on the receiving end of Mitchell Johnson's barbs about the Black Caps’ pleasantness, Brendon McCullum still gave the Australian bowler a guard of honour as he walked on to the pitch to bat his final innings.
Johnson announced he would retire from international cricket at the end of the second Test against New Zealand at the WACA in Perth, and the Black Caps gentlemanly clapped the speedster onto the pitch.
With New Zealand making headway in the first session of day five, Johnson had an instant impact, hitting a four with his first delivery.
The 34-year-old has taken five wickets through the opening two Tests against the Black Caps, and said he feels it's the right time to say goodbye.
"I have been lucky enough to have had a wonderful career and enjoyed every moment of playing for my country. It's been an incredible ride," Johnson said.
"But the ride has to come to an end at some point and to do so here at the WACA is very special."
