Ross Taylor has made his way to 165* at tea as the Black Caps revival gains momentum on the third day of the second Test against Australia in Perth.
The visitors stand at 406/3, still trailing Australia by 153 but with seven wickets still in hand.
Following the dismissal of Kane Williamson, who mistimed a pull shot off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood to depart for a magnificent 166, Taylor took the Australian attack to task, scoring all around the ground as he moved into second on the list of Test centuries by a New Zealander.
Captain Brendon McCullum has survived a couple of shaky moments, dropped off the bowling of Mitchell Starc early, but recovering to post 21* at the break.
Taylor and Williamson's 265 run partnership for the third wicket is New Zealand's third highest against Australia.
