Sonny Bill Williams may have made international headlines for his selfless gifting of his World Cup winners medal but he's revealed to 3 News it might not be the last time he dreams of earning one.

The dual international is switching to the All Blacks Sevens team next year to chase gold at the Rio Olympics but told Andrew Gourdie that it doesn't mean he's played his last Test.

"I hope not, still here next year to try my hand at the Sevens - I still feel like I've still got a few more years of good footy left in me and I'd like to notch up a few more tests," he said.

The 30-year-old has won two Rugby World Cups and NRL premierships in his glittering career - but has been blown away by today's reception in Auckland.

"It just shows how much rugby means to people in New Zealand. I knew it was special after the game and in the sheds, how happy the boys were, but it hit home when we've seen the support we have here."
