The taste of Rugby World Cup victory is beginning to sink in for two-time winner Conrad Smith as he celebrated with fans in Auckland.

The 34-year-old centre is hanging up his All Blacks jersey and heading for France to play club rugby, but isn't worrying about the future just yet.

The proud Kiwi dreamed of pulling on the All Blacks jersey, but never thought he'd have the chance to celebrate two world cups.

"I'm just loving it, these are bonuses you never think about it when you're playing.

"You're lucky to play with the All Blacks, but to win a world cup and see this [crowd] is pretty buzzy," Smith said.

Thousands of fans turned up at Auckland's Victoria Park to greet the team.

The All Blacks will continue the celebrations with a street parade in Christchurch tomorrow, before heading to Wellington on Friday.
