The new Super Rugby jersey designs have been unveiled by Adidas for next year's Super Rugby season.

All five New Zealand franchises have had a wardrobe change for the first time in two seasons.

Defending champions the Highlanders have gone back to a plainer dark blue jersey with a subtle tartan print, while last year's finalists the Hurricanes unveiled a strip that is predominantly black, a departure from their yellower strips of last season.

The Blues have introduced a new light blue colour to their jersey which represents the strength of Tane Mahuta, a giant Kauri tree in the Waipoua Forest, as they embark on their first campaign under Tana Umaga.

The Chiefs jersey is dominated by a Maori design across the front of the jersey in the franchise's traditional colours of red, black and yellow while the Crusaders have dropped the chainmail pattern from last year and have the faint shades of a horse on a black jersey that fades to red.
