The Bachelor Art Green is hoping his experience of hitting a ball will help him punch Zac Guilford in the face at Saturday's Fight for Life.
The reality television star will square off against the former All Black in Hamilton, and Green is hoping his sporting past will help him in the ring.
"I've played sport throughout my whole life," said Green.
"I've played a little bit of rugby and athletics was pretty big for me, along with tennis. It's nothing quite as intense as [boxing].
Leaning on his hand-eye coordination from tennis, Green joked "hopefully hitting a ball will just be like punching a face."
While Green was in a joking mood at his media press conference, he admitted the nerves were beginning to creep in ahead of Saturday night's fight.
"I go through bouts of being really nervous and then just taking my mind off it completely and chilling out a bit.
"It does kind of consume your mind leading up to the fight."
Green added that he might not have the mean streak in him, but backed his competitiveness to lift his performance in the ring.
"Everyone says you need mongrel, but I don't reckon you do. You just need to be competitive. As soon as you get hit in the face, you know it's all on."
