Manchester United were consigned to another defeat this morning (NZT) as Bournemouth scored twice from corners to record their second win in a row.

The loss heaped more pressure on United manager Louis van Gaal, who was heavily criticised after their defeat to Wolfsburg in midweek saw them knocked out of the Champions League.

Junior Stanislas scored directly from a corner just 100 seconds into the match, before Memphis Depay's scuffed shot came back off Cherries keeper Artur Boruc and into the path of Belgian Marrouane Fellaini, who bundled the ball into an empty goal in the 24th minute.

But Bournemouth would have the last say in the second half, another corner routine this time falling to ex-United player Josh King, who smashed the ball in from close range.

The win was another big scalp for the Cherries, who beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge just a week earlier.

Elsewhere Romelu Lukaku scored in his sixth consecutive match but was not able to earn Everton a win as they drew 1-1 with Norwich at Carrow Road.

Alan Pardew had a happy return to former club Southampton, his Crystal Palace side running out deserved winners with a 1-0 victory, courtesy of a goal from talismanic Frenchman Yohan Cabaye.

Manchester City showed they have the ability to win games the hard way, youngster Kelechi Iheanacho's injury time shot extending Swansea's poor run of results in the English Premier League.

The Swans thought they had salvaged a point when Bafetimbi Gombis thundered in a goal in the 90th minute to cancel out Wilfried Bony's first-half strike.

But Nigerian Iheanacho was on hand to get a touch on Yaya Toure's shot and deflect it past the outstretched Lukasz Fabianski.

In other games, Watford once again relied on striker Odion Ighalo's proficiency in front of goal to earn a win at struggling Sunderland, while West Ham and Stoke City played out a drab 0-0 draw at Upton Park.

Aston Villa host Arsenal tomorrow morning (NZT), before Liverpool play West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham take on Newcastle.

Leicester City and Chelsea play each other on Tuesday morning (NZT).
