FIFA Presidential candidate Prince Ali bin al-Hussein is coming to New Zealand.

The Jordanian Prince will arrive in Auckland on Friday for a series of meetings relating to his candidacy, with New Zealand Football officials due to meet with him during his brief visit.

New Zealand Football voted for Prince Ali in the 2015 FIFA Presidential election, which he ultimately lost to Sepp Blatter.

However just days later, Blatter announced he would step down, and he has since been handed an eight-year ban from all football related activity following an investigation by the FIFA Ethics Committee.

Prince Ali is one of five candidates in the running to replace Blatter when FIFA votes on a new President at an Extraordinary Congress to be held in Zurich on February 26.

The election is expected to be a close contest between Prince Ali, and current Asian President Sheikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa.

The pair have been engaged in a public spat in recent days, with Prince Ali accusing Sheikh Salman of a "blatant attempt to engineer a bloc vote"  following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the AFC and the African confederation, whose President Issa Hayatou is currently doubling as the acting head of FIFA.

It's understood Prince Ali, 40, is the only candidate currently scheduled to visit New Zealand ahead of next month's election.

Another candidate, UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino, addressed Oceania Football members, including New Zealand Football officials, at a meeting in Port Moresby in November.
