Rookie Black Cap Henry Nicholls has played his part in the Sydney Thunder's crucial win over the Sydney Sixers to stay alive in cricket's Big Bash.
The 24-year-old debuted in the competition after not being selected for the current series against Pakistan.
Nicholls would never have imagined being the only New Zealander playing in the Big Bash.
In a Sydney derby they had to win, in front of a record crowd of nearly 40,000 at the SCG.
The young Cantabrian got the call-up because of injuries to the Thunder squad, after he scored 46 against them in a pre-season match in Christchurch.
Unfortunately for him, he never got going, out for just three.
