Russia's Maria Sharapovsa has cruised into the third round of the Australian Open, beating unseeded Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
Sharapova made short work of her opponent on a rain-interrupted third day in Melbourne to reach the last 32 and will play either Slovaki's Magdalena Ryabarikova or American Lauren Davis in the next round.
The 28-year-old is seeking her first Australian Open title since 2008 having lost the final last year to Serena Williams.
Williams, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are all in action later Wednesday.
