The All Blacks Sevens are through to the semifinals of the Wellington Sevens after clobbering Kenya 36-0 in their quarterfinal on the second day at Westpac Stadium.

New Zealand opened the scoring in just the second minute when the ball was spread wide quickly, allowing winger Akira Ioane to easily run past his marker and dot down in the corner.

Not long after that, skipper Tim Mikkelson spotted a gap in the Kenyan defence and battled through it to score beneath the posts.

The All Blacks Sevens notched their third try of the first half just before the break, Ben Lam providing an audacious offload to set up Joe Webber to score on the left flank.

But New Zealand weren't finished in the first period -- an expansive pass from Lam landing in the hands of Kurt Baker, who was able to place the ball over the tryline uncontested.

The second half was more of the same for New Zealand, Mikkelson running onto a Ioane offload after a quick tap from Augustine Pulu to score his second try of the game.

A yellow card for Kenya's captain spelt more disaster for the African side, as Regan Ware ripped the ball away in a ruck and sprinted toward the tryline to score his first of the tournament.
