Manchester City keeper Willy Caballero saved three spot-kicks as Manchester City beat Liverpool 3-1 on penalties to win the League Cup.

Locked at 1-1 after extra time, it was Caballero who stepped up to become the hero, saving Lucas, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho's penalties.

City came closest in a quiet first half when Sergio Aguero's shot was pushed onto the post my Simon Mignolet.

However, the Liverpool keeper would have been disappointed with himself four minutes into the second half when he let Fernandinho's shot from a tight angle squeeze under him.

Raheem Sterling had a chance to bury his former team, but the winger missed a glorious opportunity when he slid his effort wide from in front.

The miss proved costly as Philippe Coutinho grabbed an equaliser in the 82nd minute to send the match into extra time.

Neither side could find a winner in the additional 30 minutes, so the final went to spot-kicks, where Caballero came out trumps.
