Breakers swingman Tom Abercrombie has revealed he is headed to Turkey to play for defending champions Karsiyaka ahead of the Tall Blacks Olympic qualifying series.
Abercrombie follows Breakers teammate Corey Webster, who announced he was signing with a Greek team yesterday, to Europe off the back of their unsuccessful ANBL Grand Final series against the Perth Wildcats.
"This is an amazing opportunity to once again test myself in one of the best competitions in Europe. The last time I was in Izmir was for the 2010 FIBA World Championships and I have always held great memories of the place," Abercrombie said.
"This was an opportunity too good to turn down and I am excited I will get to continue to play at a very high level and hopefully have a big impact on the team."
The 28-year-old still remains loyal to the Breakers however.
"Once again I want to thank the Breakers for allowing me to take up this opportunity and I look forward to using this experience to become a better player while I am away, and to bring that knowledge back to the club."
The opportunity will also serve as a tune-up for their Olympic qualifying tournament in Manila in June.
