Hundreds flock to Rotorua for Crankworx

The event is the biggest and most popular of its kind in the world, and the international riders like the local trails.

This is Crankworx' second year in New Zealand. Organisers are promising it will be better than 2015's hugely successful debut, saying it'll be one of the most watched events to date.

But one of the big events, the Slopestyle, will be without one of last year's finalists -- Kiwi rider Kelly McGarry, who died earlier this year.

McGarry will still have a presence; The Slopestyle course is the same as last year, which he helped design and build.

And the event will be sure to recognise their friend -- Event director Tak Mutu said there's quite a tribute planned.

The riders will show off their skills and McGarry's course to the world on Saturday.
