An Irish football team will play a friendly match against rock band Muse before their sold-out shows.

League of Ireland First Division side Cabinteely will take on band members Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, Dominic Howard and their crew.

The match will take place before Muse performs at Dublin's 3 Arena.

Cabinteely's manager Eddie Gormley will take the field for the April 4 match.

"Lining out for Cabo will be current manager Eddie Gormley, Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme’s son Alfie, who is a former player of the club, and many more to be announced," the club said in a statement.

"It will be free admission to this game. We would like to thank Muse for taking time out of their schedule for this event, we hope to see you all there."

Currently 3rd in the league having won, lost and drawn their first three games, Cabinteely will hope the game against headline act Muse is exactly what they need to get out of this Supermassive Black Hole.
