Everton's Gareth Barry has reportedly played down an incident with Diego Costa in which the Chelsea striker appeared to bite the midfielder on the neck.
Costa could face repercussions after appearing to attempt to bite an Barry during his side's 2-0 FA Cup quarterfinal loss to Everton.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez said Barry told him the incident was "nothing to be worried about".
Costa got in the face of Gareth Barry after the Everton midfielder cut him down in a tackle, with close-up slow motion replays showing the Spaniard opening his mouth and appearing to try and bite Barry's neck.
There was no reaction from Barry, which may imply Costa didn't follow through with the bite.
Costa received a second yellow card and was sent off after his ugly outburst, which also resulted in him angrily getting in the referee's face.
Barry was later sent off for a second yellow card when he took out Cesc Fabregas.
Martinez said he hasn't seen the incident and commended Costa's "fighting spirit".
"My interpretation is that I don't think it was a key moment in the game, I don't think we should focus on that. I think it was an emotional game," Martinez said.
"Gareth Barry said to me "it's nothing to be worried about, I'm not even worried, I'm just disappointed I collected the second yellow card".
"I'm sure the players shook it off at the end of the game and there's nothing to look back on."
Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink appeared to be as unaware of the bite as his managerial counterpart but complained the referee didn't do enough to protect Costa.
"He was chased a bit in the game as well. They went after him," Hiddink said.
Everton won the game on Sunday morning (NZT) thanks to two goals from Romelu Lukaku, booking themselves a place in the semifinals.
