The Brisbane Broncos have snatched a 21-20 win over the North Queensland Cowboys courtesy of an Anthony Milford drop-goal in golden point time to cap off a pulsating 2015 grand final replay.
The hosts opened the try scoring in the 22nd minute, new recruit James Roberts slicing through the Cowboys defense and sending livewire half Anthony Milford 40 metres to dot down.
Hooker Jake Granville pulled one back for the Cowboys ten minutes later, darting down a short blindside from dummy half to score and send the ledger to 12-6 at the halftime interval.
The Cowboys closed the deficit further 15 minutes into the second stanza, Johnathan Thurston bouncing a grubber off the posts and right into the arms of a chasing Michael Morgan.
With just ten minutes remaining it was the maestro to the fore yet again, throwing a deft short inside ball for Ethan Lowe to burst 20 metres next to the sticks and giving the Cowboys their first lead of the game.
It would be short-lived however, Anthony Milford scorching clear down the right-hand flank and finding James Roberts in support to complete a stunning 90 metre try.
Thurston stepped in the dying stages to knock over a pressure penalty from handy range to send the contest into golden point.
It was Anthony Milford who would it for the Broncos, sticking a 40 metre drop-goal dagger into the hearts of Broncos fans to cap off a truly epic contest.
