The Warriors have topped the Knights 40-18 to record their first win since July last year.

The Warriors, who were on an 11-game losing streak, blew out the Knights in the second half to easy their way to a comfortable first win of the 2016 NRL season at Mount Smart Stadium.

Solomone Kata handed the Warriors the perfect start after he finished off a move started by Roger Tuivasa-Sheck spinning his way through the Newcastle line.

The Knights answered through Sam Mataroa, who bundled through Issac Luke on his way over the chalk.

The visitors were in for their second through Dane Gagai after a Jeff Robson turnover gave the Knights favourable field position.

However, the teams would go to halftime locked up 12-12 thanks to a try from Ben Matulino under the posts.

A favourable bounce off a Shaun Johnson kick helped the Warriors to a third through Blake Ayshford, but there was no luck needed for Tuimoala Lolohea's try as fast hands pushed the hosts to a 24-12 lead.

Manu Vatuvei, Johnson and Issac Luke capped off the Warriors rout with second half tries.

The Knights wouldn't be shut out in the second half, a well-worked set-piece from a scrum set up Nathan Ross for the consolation try.

The Warriors will now turn their attention to the Sydney Roosters, the only team left in the competition not to record a point this season.
