Injuries have forced the Blues to make two changes to their side for Friday's Super Rugby clash with leaders the Chiefs in Hamilton.
Hoani Matenga and Sam Prattley get their first starts of the season at lock and prop with Nick Mayhew out with a knee injury and Patrick Tuipolotu a fractured hand.
The injuries come just as Dominic Bird and Brodie Retallick are set to return to the second-row for the Chiefs.
It's unfortunate timing for Blues coach Tana Umaga.
"We're going to get a great test probably against the hottest team in Super Rugby at the moment down there," Umaga said
"That's the beauty of this competition is you're always playing high-calibre players everywhere you go."
With regular skipper Jerome Kaino still out with a shoulder complaint, hooker James Parsons again takes over the captaincy.
The win over the Jaguares was the Blues' second of the season but they remain bottom of the New Zealand conference.
The Chiefs top the conference with 24 points, the most in the competition, and they are coming off an impressive 48-23 victory away to top Australian side the Brumbies.
