Warriors star Shaun Johnson has revealed who he'll be running waterboy duties for his next day off.

After his Facebook post initially exploded with offers from teams throughout New Zealand, Johnson narrowed them down to select the under-10s Manurewa Marlins Southsiders.

He added that it won't be the only time he helps out a team in the community this year.

The 25-year-old was lauded for his gesture.

"What you're doing should be in every professional players contract. More time with the community. It's such a simple win/win. Creating more supporters and giving time and inspiration to the kids of the future. Create the path Shaun, true role model," Ian White wrote on Facebook.

"Your the man Shaun Johnson we need more guys like you..Gives the kids a boost in sports, Probably be a highlight for them (sic)," another wrote.

Johnson said the idea was initially born from lying on his couch wondering what to do with his free time.

"I wanted to get out, I wanted to hang out with some kids, I wanted to be around some grassroots footy teams -- it was pretty simple," he said.

"I wrote the post in the space of five minutes and threw it up.

"To be honest I didn't expect the response I've had from it, so very excited to get out to hopefully what will be a couple of clubs."
