Former All Black Aaron Mauger is riding the wave with his rugby club in the new sporting capital of England.

Mauger's coaching the Tigers - who are getting ready for the Aviva Premiership semi-final against Saracens in London this weekend.

The city's buzzing after Leicester City's incredible Premier League triumph, and Mauger's side has the chance to add to the success.

"It's been a pretty exciting buzz in the city with Leicester City doing so well and wrapping up the Premier League," Mauger told Newshub.

"We're obviously very proud of other sides in the city that are doing well, the Leicester Riders basketball team have also wrapped up the championship there and [Mark] Selby with the snooker has done a good job, he's a world champion.

"The hype is all around us but we're really focused on what we're doing and nothing has really changed too much, we haven't deviated from our plan. We're pretty sure on what we set out to achieve this year and we're on the right track at the moment and hopefully we'll progress through to a final."

Standing in Leicester's way are the recently crowned European champions Saracens, who beat Dan Carter's Racing 92 21-9 in the final in Lyon.

"We're full of admiration for Saracens, they've really set the bar from round one of the Premiership this year and they've gone through and performed well in Europe.

"We're really aware of how they play the game and what their strengths are, but for us, we're really confident with our game and there will be plenty of opportunities for us to show how good we are on the weekend as well.

"Saracens play a very pressurised sort of game. There is plenty of pressure on opposition with their defensive tactics and they are very disciplined with what they do and they are very accurate.

"The important thing for us is we need to look after the ball, put it in the right parts of the field and we play what's in front of us and back are skills.

"It's a simple theory, execution of it is going to be a little bit harder."

Saracens have won their last eight matches in all competitions since their 21-13 defeat at Leicester in March.
