Kaka try seals late New Zealand win

The New Zealand sevens team have come from behind to beat Kenya and top their pool at the paris sevens.

An injury time try to Gillies kaka under the posts, tird the scores and seconds later Kaka slotted the drop goal to seal a win that will see New Zealand face Argentina in the Cup quarterfinal at 9.13 tonight.

Akira Ioane had given New Zealand an early lead with a lovely solo effort from inside his own half, but despite dominating possession and field position a late first half surge from Kenya saw them take a 12-7 halftime lead.

New Zealand looked done after an early second half try to Andrew Amonde, amd it looked like Kenya were in prime position to top the group.

However, Reiko Ioane scored with two minutes remaining, before kaka’s quick thinking from a ruck penalty saw New Zealand seal another post siren victory in 2016.

Earlier in the day, lewis Ormond scored a hat-trick to help New Zeealand to a comfortable 31-0 win over Portugal.

Kenya will face France in the quarters, while Samoa face South Africa and Australia meet World Series leaders Fiji to round out the last eight.
