Corey Parker to hang up the boots

Broncos and Kangaroos star Corey Parker has announced he will retire at the end of the 2016 NRL season.

Parker announced his decision at a press conference Monday afternoon (NZT).

"I have been very fortunate to fulfil a childhood dream to play for the Broncos." Parker told broncos.com.au

"At some stage all good things come to an end, and 2016 will be the end of my playing career, but the start of my new journey off the field in which I will remain part of the game."

"I’d like to thank my family and close friends, my teammates and coaches over 16 years, the Broncos’ club, members and fans, and the game of rugby league as a whole."

Corey Parker made his debut for the Broncos back in 2001 as a 19-year-old against the Warriors.

In 2014, Parker became co-captain of the Broncos along with Justin Hodges and this year became to lone captain for last year’s grand finalists.

Parker has worn the Broncos jersey 336 times, which ties him with Brad Fittler for the fourth most NRL games.
