PGA and LPGA returns to Sky Sport

Golf fans rejoice, Sky TV has secured the rights for all PGA TOUR and LPGA tournaments.

In 2015 Sky TV lost broadcast rights to the PGA TOUR and LPGA when online subscription services were launched in New Zealand through Colisuem Sports Media and Lightbox.

A joint statement from Sky TV, PGA TOUR and the LPGA said,

“While subscriber levels were healthy and the product was excellent, it became apparent after more than a year that many New Zealand golf fans did not have the necessary comfort in their broadband connectivity to maximize the viewing experience. The best course of action was to return to broadcast television and SKY Sport, which held broadcast rights to both Tours prior to their move to the OTT service.”

Coverage begins this week with the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship featuring Lydia Ko.

Existing subscribers to the current online services will be given a full refund for the remainder of their subscription in July.
