Dustin Johnson leads US Open in final round

Dustin Johnson has taken the lead in the final round of the US Open at Oakmont Country Club.

Ireland's Shane Lowry started with a four-shot buffer but saw his lead dwindle and dropped back as he chases a maiden major championship.

The burly Irishman is four over through his opening 11 holes to drop back to two under, for a tie of second.

American Johnson is two under through 13 holes today to take a one shot lead.

Sergio Garcia's played his way into contention, going two under through his 14 holes to leave him three shots of Johnson.

Lowry has never finished higher than ninth in majors, although he did win a World Golf Championship event last year.

Johnson has 11 top 10s in majors, famously bombing on several occasions, including last year's US Open where he had a 12-foot putt to win, only to three-putt to miss a playoff.

New Zealand's Danny Lee finished tied for 57th at 14-over, while Tim Wilkinson rounded out in 61st at 16-over.
