The Warriors have put on a vintage display in disposing of the Brisbane Broncos at Mount Smart stadium in Auckland tonight
Running in seven tries in a stunning return to form, the Warriors condemned the Broncos to a third straight loss in a 36-18 victory.
Shaun Johnson produced his best form in almost 12 months, scoring a try and setting up multiple Warriors attacks, as the Penrose side ran all over a tired looking Brisbane club, which included six players backing up from Wednesday nights first State of Origin clash.
The Warriors began on fire, dominating possession and field position early and managed to turn that into points when Johnson crossed over after 10 minutes.
Two more tries in 8 minutes allowed the struggling club to race out to a 18-0 lead.
The Broncos started to get themselves into the game by the halfway mark of the first half , and when Alex Glenn crossed over in the 30th minute, the 2015 Grand Final losers were back in the contest.
However a turning point came late in the half when the Broncos had two tries ruled out for forward passes, denying the Brisbane side a chance to change the momentum, leaving the Warriors with a 18-6 lead at the break.
David Fusitua scored the first of two tries shortly after the break, and when skipper Ryan Hoffman crossed a minute later the Warriors had all-but sealed a much needed 2 points for Andrew McFaddens’ side.
The teams traded two more tries before the full time siren and after 80 minutes the Warriors had a 36 -18 win.
The Broncos could slip to fourth by the end of the round if the Cowboys can get up against the Knights later tonight, meanwhile the Warriors move into top eight contention with the win, leaving them on 12 competition points along with four other clubs.
The Warriors travel to Newcastle next Saturday evening whilst the Broncos host the Raiders on Thursday night.
