Portugal have been held to a 1-1 draw by Iceland in their Group F encounter at Euro 2016.

Portugal broke the game open with a well-worked move down the wing that was finished by Nani.

After seeing an earlier header fantastically saved by Iceland's Hannes Halldorsson, the Portuguese midfielder got the better this time as he made no mistake with his finish at the near post.

Despite Portugal controlling possession and producing multiple half chances, it was Iceland who found themselves level in the second half when Birkir Bjarnson swept home the equaliser.

Portugal's fullback Vieirinha was caught napping at the back post and Bjarnson ran in unchallenged to direct his volley home and send the Iceland fans into raptures.

Pressing for a winner, the Portuguese came up empty as Iceland held firm in their first appearance  at the European Championship.
