By Shaun Summerfield in Le Mans
Scott Dixon was clearly shattered when we caught up following the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but at the same time there was a real twinkle in his eyes. I've seen it before at the Endurance Classic: he has got the Le Mans bug.
I'd heard whispers that he has signed for next year, but to hear him say in front of the Newshub camera that not only was he signed, but he wanted to come back.
So I asked his Team Boss, Chip Ganassi, if he expected Ford to stick with the GT-E car or would they step up to the top level LMP1 class?
"I don't know yet."
It's no confirmation – but neither did he dismiss the idea, so could that mean a Blue Oval tilt at overall honours is a possibility?
Right now the team is waiting to see what the Indycar calendar is like for 2017, any clash of dates would rule Dixon out of Le Mans.
