The Hurricanes continued the dismal weekend for Australian Super Rugby teams after claiming a hard fought 28-17 victory over the Waratahs in Sydney.
Beaden Barrett hit two early penalties and scored a try off a Cory Jane chip to give them an early 11-0 lead.
Waratahs winger Taqele Naiyaravoro hit right back to keep them in the game.
The Hurricanes went into the break with fourteen men after Willis Halaholo was carded for a late shot on Bernard Foley. Foley hit a penalty goal but the Hurricanes still held an 11-10 lead at the break.
While in the sin the Waratahs took advantage as Israel Folau scored to put the home side in the lead. Cory Jane scored in the corner minutes later to give the lead back to the visitors.
Taqele Naiyaravoro was then shown yellow for making contact with Cory Jane in the air and the Hurricanes took full advantage scoring through Julian Savea.
The Hurricanes determination on defence held out the Waratahs to claim the hard fought win.
The Hurricanes face the Crusaders in the final round of Super Rugby while the Waratahs must win to keep their playoff hopes alive. They will travel to Auckland and face the Blues.
