There was a brutal scene in the Caribbean Premier League today when two St Kitts and Nevis Patriots fielders came face-to-face in the most unfortunate of circumstances.
South African JJ Smuts was chasing to cover a ball headed to the field from mid-wicket in his side's clash with the Barbados Tridents when he collided at full tilt with Kieran Powell, the West Indian banging his face directly into Smuts' collarbone sending both players straight to the deck.
The game was delayed while both men were stretchered from the field and into a waiting ambulance.
In a cruel twist of fate, the ball still went for four.
