Copacabana Beach prepares for Olympic kick off

Sunbathers enjoy Copacabana beach ahead of the Rio Olympics opening ceremony (Reuters)

Renowned for its beautiful weather and scantily clad sunbathers, Copacabana Beach will be well covered by the world's media over the next few weeks at the Rio Olympics.

It's also the site where some of New Zealand's athletes will be competing, including the triathletes and road cyclists Linda Villumsen and George Bennett.

Beach volleyball will also be played there, and while New Zealand doesn't have a team competing in the sport, Jeff McTainsh caught up with some Copacabana locals for a few tips.
