Dane Coles desperate to play Super final

Dane Coles admits it would be pretty hard to take missing out on the Hurricanes Super Rugby final, against the Lions in Wellington on Saturday night.

The Hurricanes skipper missed last weekend's semi-final win against the Chiefs with a rib injury and despite major improvement so far this week he has been bracketed with Rikky Riccitelli for the final.

The 29 year-old believes the final will be a special occasion and doesn't want to miss out due to injury.

"Yeah It would be pretty guttering," he said.

"Had a good session today, got through some lineouts, did some scrums and had a run around.

"But it would be pretty selfish of me to play and only last a couple minutes so I will do what's best for the team."

Coles rates himself about an 80% chance of playing and with a couple more sessions to go he is confident that he will play.

"I'm about  an 8 out of 10 at the moment, I got through today and it gave me a lot of confidence.

"I'll have a good blow out for Captains run tomorrow, so things are looking pretty promising at this time."

The Hurricanes will be looking to break their Super Rugby final hoodoo after losing to the Highlanders last year and the infamous fog final in 2006.
