Eric Murray fan club taking over Rio

It’s not hard to spot the kiwis on Copacabana beach.

And once they get closer it’s not hard to figure out who they’re supporting.

It seems one kiwi athlete has his own personal travelling fan club.

Every New Zealander in Rio this week would seem to be an Eric Murray fan,

Eric's brothers mates wife, Eric's sons cousins friend and yes, even actual legitimate friends.

But they are actually who they say they are. Eric Murray has a lot of connections.

And with special Eric Murray fan club shirts made up, they will be hard to miss come race time tomorrow morning.

"I think he was quietly pleased that we’d done that and I would encourage all New Zealanders who know Eric even slightly, to think about getting their own one,"said fan Angeline

Young Joel said Murray can't be missed.

"Everyone knows Eric anyway cause they see him on the TV."

Maybe not here in Brazil, but definitely in New Zealand where Murray and his rowing partner Hamish Bond, are considered a lock in to defend their title.

And Murray's grateful for the support.

"Yeah it's cool and I think everybody in their own little ways are over here with some support," he said.

"I think Emma's friends have got ET row home, you know so just little interesting things people have done and I think it's great we have people from all round the globe that are coming here to support NZ, and you know that's what it’s about."
