Premier League power rankings - Week one

10. Manchester City - Not an overly convincing start to the Guardiola-era at City, a 2-1 win over Sunderland. Had more than three quarters of the possession but not much to show for it. Will need vast improvement.

9. West Brom - One of six teams to get an opening day win but they had to work at Crystal Palace. Hardly set the world alight in their 1-0 win but Salomon Rondon was a handful up front and every point is critical for teams like Brom.

8. Tottenham - Never really settled in against Everton and couldn't play their game, but showed enough to fight back and earn a point at Goodison Park. I think they'll take that.

7. Middlesbrough - Boro easily look the best of the newly promoted sides and were unlucky not to pick up all the points against Stoke. Gaston Ramirez and Alvaro Negredo are a potent attacking duo.

6. Everton - I really like the look of Everton, Gerard Deulofeu is a terrific player up top, and should benefit further when Romelu Lukaku returns from injury. They ended up settling for a 1-1 draw with Spurs, but a bright start under Ronald Koeman.

5. Hull City - Credit where it's due, Hull probably will not feature much in here but they showed plenty of spirit to inflict the first defeat on a champion on Premier League Opening Day. Curtis Davies was immense at the back for the Tigers.

4. Swansea City - Spain international Fernando Llorente looks a great acquisition and he helped the Swans pick up an opening day win over promoted Burnley. With club record signing Borja Baston still to come it's a great start for Swansea

3. Chelsea - A 2-1 win at West Ham will hardly have opposition fans fearing the Blues, or their own fans confident of a title challenge but there were signs to suggest they'll be up there this season. N'Golo Kante really is a terrific player and showed it in the opener, while Eden Hazard showed signs and they need a big season from him.

2. Manchester United - Potential banana skin opening match but United clinically dispatched Bournemouth 3-1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored on debut. And United will add megastar Paul Pogba to their lineup next week.

1. Liverpool - There are defensive question marks but the attack flexed its potent muscle and scoring four goals at Arsenal is not easy. A lot to like about this Reds team.
