English Premier League power rankings - Week four

10. (New) Swansea: A 2-2 draw with what I think is a very good Chelsea team is what I would call a very good result for Swansea.

9. (New) Watford: I was surprised to see them do so well at West Ham, given I thought the Hammers would be a handy team this season. But they went there and scored four goals to win 4-2, and win a spot in the Power Rankings.

8. (8) Arsenal: Got the job done against Southampton 2-1, but there's not a lot of inspiring stuff coming out of the Gunners. Tough draw coming up with PSG in the Champions League, then Hull City and Chelsea.

7. (5) Hull: Plucky old Hull City, huh? A 1-1 draw with Burnley after manager Mick Phelan picked up an entirely deserving manager of the month award for August. Seven points now for the Tigers, seven more than I thought they'd have at this stage.

6. (7) Liverpool: The Reds are proving a very hard team to predict. I, for one, did not see a 4-1 thrashing of Leicester City coming but Liverpool do have that in them, and consistency will now be their biggest issue. Wait, I swear that sounds like an Auckland Rugby League team?

5. (6) Tottenham: Spurs charged into the top four with a 4-0 thrashing at Stoke City - not an easy place to go. Far from an easy schedule to open their campaign and eight points isn't a bad haul from four matches.

4. (3) Chelsea: A 2-2 draw with Swansea City featured a typical Diego Costa performance, full of controversy and goals. This result is not cause for concern for Antonio Conte, and neither is dropping one spot to fourth in the Power Rankings.

3. (1) Manchester United: A 2-1 loss to City is a bitter pill for United and while it wasn't a thrashing, City were every bit deserving of that win so there's a fair bit of ground to make up for Jose Mourinho's side.

2. (4) Everton: If you're after shock then this is it. Everton, yes, Everton are second. Playing some cracking football at the moment and deserve to climb the rankings.

1. (2) Manchester City: They were deserving winners in the first Guardiola-Mourinho Manchester Derby and Pep will be pleased to hear it's enough to take first place in the Power Rankings.
