Fighting at UFC 203 in front of a huge crowd in Cleveland, Punk lost to American Micky Gall by rear naked choke just a touch over two minutes into the fight.
Punk was a huge underdog, and most experts gave the former WWE Champion zero chance of victory and they proved to be right.
The Chicago native came out aggressively throwing a big right hand, but a composed Gall ducked underneath it, produced a textbook takedown Punk down, and took little time in establishing his dominance and eventually choked Punk out.
In the nights feature bout, Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic retained his crown in front of his hometown fans with a first-round knockout of Alistair Overeem.
