A report out of India claims the third test between the Black Caps and India is set to be cancelled, as well as the five-match ODI series which is scheduled to follow.

The Indian Express claims the BCCI have decided to cancel the remaining matches following a decision by a Supreme Court committee to freeze the powerful governing body’s bank accounts.

The newspaper quotes a senior BCCI board official, who says the board was forced to take this step as its hands were tied.

“We have no option other than to call off the India-New Zealand series as our banks have decided to freeze BCCI accounts. We don’t want India to be humiliated in front of the world. How can we function, how can we hold any games now? Who will make the payment? Freezing a bank account is no joke. An international team is here, and there is so much at stake,” the official said.

New Zealand Cricket spokesman Richard Boock says it’s the first they’ve heard of the story, and NZC’s had no communication from the BCCI regarding the matter.

"we are preparing to play the third test at Indore as scheduled" He said.

New Zealand Cricket CEO David White is in India and could not be reached for comment.

An update is expected later this afternoon.
