Man charged with assault at Pukekohe V8s

Police have confirmed a 61-year-old man will appear in court over an alleged assault at the Pukekohe V8 Supercar championship last weekend.

He will appear in Pukekohe District Court on December 1.

The man hasn't been named by police, but Newshub understands it is local motorsport identity and former president of the Auckland Car Club Ted Jarvis. Jarvis was filmed shoving and kicking Australian photographer Dick Klynsmith at the Supercars Championship at the weekend.

The footage of the incident was subsequently posted on Facebook.

Jarvis has since been dismissed as president of the Auckland Car club, replaced by club spokesman and acting president Brett Davy.
