USA head coach John Mitchell has said that their match against the Maori All Blacks is a chance to enrich the rugby history between the USA and New Zealand.
Speaking from USA training on Thursday morning (NZT), Mitchell said he relished the opportunity to take on the Maori All Blacks and hoped that they could add another chapter to an already wealthy sporting history.
"If you look at the history, in 1913 New Zealand toured here and played 10 club sides, so there's massive history.
"New Zealand Maori Rugby team has also been a special team in New Zealand history.
"All you need to do is look at some of the outstanding wins and the individuals that have been remembered and the number of All Blacks that have come out of New Zealand Maori [team].
Mitchell, who now lives in South Africa, also said that it was a great opportunity for the USA side to come up against this New Zealand Maori side.
"The New Zealand Maori [All Blacks] is probably the best non-Test team in the world.
"For us, individually and collectively, it's probably the greatest experience they'll get in terms of being exposed to tempo and intensity of a tier-one Nation.
However, Mitchell did say he knew what to expect when the teams clashed on Saturday (NZT)
"One thing you're guaranteed of when you play New Zealand teams is that they all play very similar, so turnover ball and counter-attack are prominent in terms of the way they play.
"At the end of the day, all New Zealand teams can score from any facet. They enjoy the physical dimensions as well. So when we have the ball we have to build pressure and look after it like gold.
"They'll look to thrive off turnover ball."
