Blackcaps bowler Trent Boult has been ruled out of the second Test against Pakistan due to a knee injury.
The 27-year-old felt discomfort in his right knee during training yesterday, and has been experiencing irritation in the joint of his for some weeks.
Coach Mike Hesson said the medical staff are hopeful Boult will be fit for the up-coming Chappell-Hadlee series against Australia.
"Unfortunately he irritated [right knee] further while fielding in the first Test," he said.
"We were optimistic he would be ready for Hamilton, but during training on Wednesday he felt further pain and has subsequently been ruled out of the Test."
Central Districts seamer Doug Bracewell has been called in as injury cover.
