Australia have well and truly dominated the first day of the Australian cricket summer in Perth, dismissing South Africa for 242 after losing the toss on a fast WACA pitch.
Mitchell Starc's pace and Josh Hazelwood's accuracy were too much for the slightly green South African batsmen, as they struggled to deal with the bounce.
Starc was the hero for Australia, returning impressive figures of 4/71 while Hazelwood (three wickets) and spinner Nathan Lyon (two wickets) also chipped in.
Restricted to 78/4 at Lunch, diminutive batsman Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock staged a mini fight-back, helping the visitors reach a score over 200 - which was not looking likely.
Australian opener David Warner showed the South Africans how to bat on a quick WACA pitch, standing tall and playing positive, racing to 73 off just 62 balls to see Australia finish the day well on top at 105/0.
The second day will resume at 3:30pm on Friday (NZ time).
