Video highlights: South Africa beat Australia by 177 runs in first Test

South Africa put the finishing touches on an emphatic 177-run first Test win against Australia in Perth Monday night.

Australian batsmen Usman Khawaja and Peter Nevill put up some resistance but ultimately the visitors were able to clean up the order late on day five.

It's the first time Australia have lost the opening Test of a home series in 28-years and also marks their fourth consecutive Test loss following their 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka.

Khawaja was the pick of the batsmen with 97, while Vernon Philander grabbed four wickets for the Proteas.

The second Test starts in Hobart on Saturday.
