Holden driver Shane van Gisbergen could be in for a tough weekend at Pukekohe after some of his rivals hinted the Kiwi could be a marked man during this weekend's New Zealand round of the Supercars.

Things got off to a bad start for the Kiwi when he nearly collided with teammate Craig Lowndes during the first practice session.

In reality it was nothing more than bad luck, but going by a story in Australia's Daily Telegraph, the New Zealander's driving style has made him the target for retribution this weekend.

Van Gisbergen did not have much to say about the controversial article.

"It doesn't mean f**k all," said van Gisbergen.

David Reynolds' 2015 championship hopes were ruined when the pair tangled in Phillip Island, and he says he'll be keeping an eye on current championship leader van Gisbergen this weekend.

"There's not a lot of respect out there for him with the way he goes about his business," Reynolds said.

"Everyone needs a target. You have to have someone who has a target on their back."

Grudges are part of the Supercars series and Ford driver Mark Winterbottom believes van Gisbergen is on many a hit list.

"There is a point where drivers will always give something back - there's a few down pit lane that have a hit list, and he's probably on it," said Winterbottom.

Saturday will be a different day when drivers will contest two 100km races, with qualifying in the morning and races in the afternoon.
