The Breakers have suffered another blow with Tom Abercrombie out for at least a month after breaking his right hand at practice yesterday.
The fracture happened when Abercrombie was trying to get through a screen during scrimmage.
The Christmas break does give the club more time to adjust to not having him in the side. However they aren't seeking a replacement for him
Coach Paul Henare said he felt for the swingman.
“He has been one of our most consistent players throughout the season and was nearing his best form again in recent games," Henare said.
"He is one of our leaders on and off court and is understandably extremely disappointed to have this happen.”
The injury to Abercrombie means that whoever is brought in to cover Corey Webster’s various injuries will now essentially replace Abercrombie in the lineup.
But Henare said he's keeping the faith.
"Our concentration has to be on the players we have available."
"I have every faith in their ability to get the job done while Tommy is out. We are a resilient group and have great depth in the roster, I have no doubts this will prove an opportunity for others to step up in Tom’s absence."
The Breakers next game is away to the Sydney Kings on the 30 December.
