Video: Courtney Walsh ready to lead Bangladesh bowlers against Blackcaps

More than 20 years ago West Indian great Courtney Walsh tormented the Blackcaps with career-best figures in Wellington.

Walsh is in Christchurch as the Bangladesh team's bowling coach - a role he took up in September, helping the team prepare for their series against the Black Caps.

"I think it's the first time I've been back since I retired," says Walsh.

During his heyday Walsh was one of the world's great fast bowlers, finishing with a then-world record 519 Test wickets.

At Wellington against the Blackcaps in 1995, he took match figures of 13 for 56.

Now the 54-year-old is aiming to plot the Blackcaps' demise again.

"There are six or seven fast bowlers here, and we are hoping in the next year or so that they make their mark in international cricket," says Walsh.

Black Caps coach Mike Hesson believes Walsh will make Bangladesh better.

"Adding Courtney to the mix over the past few months will give them plenty of experience about bowling in New Zealand conditions," says Hesson.

The Blackcaps are scheduled to play three ODIs, three T20s and two Test matches against Bangladesh this summer.
